Clinical Dietitian (HPC/ND 2)


The Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA), a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health responsible for the management and operation of Public Health Services within the Parishes of Clarendon, Manchester and St. Elizabeth, invites applications from suitably qualified
persons for the following position: Clinical Dietitian (HPC/ND 2) for Mandeville Regional Hospital

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree with major in Dietetics and Nutrition
  • Completed one (1) year supervised Internship Programme in Dietetics/Nutrition.
  • Registered with Council for Professions to Supplementary Medicine
  • Possess a valid Food Handlers Permit Plus
  • At least two (2) years experience

 

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of the Science of Human Nutritional care and essential component of Health Science.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Nutrition Services
  • Knowledge of Food Service Systems Management
  • Good knowledge of Computerized (software) Applications.
  • Sound skills in verbal, writing, recording, reporting and presenting information
  • Excellent Time Management skills

 

Responsibilities

  • Counseling individuals and families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food  selection and adapting plans to the individual’s lifestyle.
  • Documenting nutritional care in medical records.
  • Evaluating nutritional care and providing for continuity of care.
  • Participating in health team ward rounds and serving as consultant on nutritional care.
  • Evaluating food served for conformance to quality, standards and dietary prescriptions.
  • Compiling and developing educational materials and use them as aids in nutrition education.
  • Interpreting, evaluating and utilizing pertinent current research related to nutritional care.
  • Applying knowledge of Nutritional products and their composition to nutrition care of patients requiring enteral nutrition support, parenteral nutrition support and oral supplementation.
  • Applying Management skills and knowledge of clinical nutrition to participate in Quality Assurance Programme for nutritional care of patients.
  • Maintain effective written and verbal communication and public relations inter and intra departmentally.
